Installation: Domestic New Build
Client:Peter King, King Construction
Location: Woking, Surrey
Project Criteria
The client had been referred to us by Kinsley Symes & Scott chartered surveyors and architects whom we had also completed several new build projects for. The brief was based on one main requirement, the proposed developments all needed to achieve the standard 10% legislation as outlined in the 'Code For Sustainable Homes' in order for them to meet current building regulations.
This is by far they most common requirement we receive now as nearly every council in the UK has now adopted this policy and expects at least one form of renewable energy in place on any new property as standard. The majority of developers and architects using GGG have found solar thermal they most cost effective way of achieving this.
Collectors
We can use two types of collectors in any new build process, in-roof flat plate collectors with lead weathered or on roof frame mounted tubes. With the developments already well under way, we were required to mount on roof SPA 58/1800 evacuated tube collectors, one for each property. These were bracket mounted at the highest point of each south facing pitch to avoid shadowing.

Heat Exchanging
All solar gains were to be integrated into the domestic heating systems via the standard twin coil cylinders. The pump station and control units were pre set up on commissioning and tamper proofed so as to ensure ease of operation when the developments were handed over to new tenants. We also provided all SAP calculations required by the architects to proof the requirements had been met.
